The PEIMTA has the following Standards of Entry:
Active Membership
The qualifications required for the application process to PEIMTA are:
- The applicant is a graduate of a 2200 hour massage therapy program or equivalent in Canada.
- The applicant is an active member in good standing with a Regulatory College.
New Graduates Application
If you are looking for liability insurance in order to apply to the CMPEI for your registration. Please apply to the association and pay the application fee to get started. Follow the application instructions as though you are already a member of the a Regulatory College. Once your application has been approved and fees paid, you will be issued your insurance so you can apply to the College. Should you not be allowed to register with the CMTPEI, your membership minus the insurance fee will be refunded.
Please ensure ALL documents are included in your application to facilitate processing:
- Review to ensure no documents are missing;
- Include the $25 CAD application fee (etransfer accepted at peimtatreasurer@gmail.com ) Once your application fee has been received, you will be emailed with a link to login.
- Incomplete applications WILL NOT be processed. Please note that it may take up to 4 weeks to process. If you use the website to upload all your documentation, it will take approximately 1 week to become a member. You will be asked to forward the appropriate pro-rated dues to initiate your membership. Upon receipt, you will receive an email with your membership number.

Required Documentation
Annual fee of $295 for 2025-2026 membership year, including practice liability insurance. This fee will be prorated based on what month your acceptance
occurs.
Please allow up to a week to process once uploading of files occurs. Please download a hard copy of the insurer’s
application form from our website under the Legal tab. Liability insurance will come straight from the insurer, usually via
email and Canada Post.
If requesting non active membership, all forms must be uploaded; however, no insurance will be issued. Non active
membership is $175.
New Massage Therapy Graduate or if you are coming from an unregulated province:
- Copy of official School Transcript
- Copy of official School Diploma Certificate
- Copy of vulnerable sector criminal record cheque processed by the police within 3 months of application.
Members of regulatory Colleges:
- Letter of good standing from the Massage Therapy College you are currently a member of,
or - successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in massage therapy within the last 3 years (minimum 2200-hour program), completion of a Prior Learning Assessment accepted by the College of Massage Therapists of PEI; and an exam from a regulated body for massage therapy.
Outside of Canada:
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in massage therapy
- within the last 3 years (minimum 2200-hour program), and/or
- completion of a Prior Learning Assessment accepted by the College of Massage Therapists of PEI, and
- an exam from a Canadian provincially regulated body of massage therapy.
